Traditional BaZi reads romance through three separate but overlapping systems: the spouse palace (day branch), the spouse star (Wealth stars for men, Officer stars for women), and the Peach Blossom (桃花) stars in your chart. When all three point the same direction, the reading is loud. When they contradict, the picture is more complicated — and usually more interesting.

A strong love reading has all three: a clean spouse palace, a well-placed spouse star, and at least one active Peach Blossom.
The four Peach Blossom branches are Rat (子), Horse (午), Rabbit (卯), and Rooster (酉) — the four cardinal branches of the Chinese zodiac. Whether one of these is a Peach Blossom in your chart depends on your year or day branch:
Internal Peach Blossom (in year or month pillar) = attractiveness within the family and close social circle, often results in early marriage. External Peach Blossom (in day or hour pillar) = broader magnetism, meeting partners through work, travel, or public life. Excess Peach Blossom (multiple in the chart, especially with active Wealth or Officer stars) can indicate romantic drama, multiple relationships, or complicated love life.
The day branch — the animal sign directly under your Day Master stem — is the seat of your future or current spouse. Read it two ways: the quality of the branch itself (Peach Blossom? clashing branch? favorable element?) and its interaction with the rest of the chart.
Favorable day branch: a peaceful, stable spouse; marriage supports the chart-holder's goals. Clashed day branch (冲 with year, month, or hour): marriage instability, spouse changes, or late marriage. The classical rule: in a man's chart, Wealth stars represent the wife. In a woman's chart, Officer stars represent the husband.
For men: A well-placed Direct Wealth star indicates a stable, dutiful wife. Indirect Wealth in the chart alongside Direct Wealth (both present) classically indicates a complicated love life — sometimes multiple significant relationships, sometimes a wife plus long-term ex. Missing Wealth stars entirely: difficulty finding a partner, or a partner who feels 'off-chart' — hard to categorize, difficult to keep.
For women: A well-placed Direct Officer star indicates a stable, principled husband met through legitimate channels. Seven Killings in the chart alongside Direct Officer (mixed Officer) classically warns of unstable romantic history — the lover before the husband, marriage after a difficult prior relationship. Missing Officer stars: independence, potential late marriage or singleness by preference.
Romance activates in Luck Pillar (大运) windows that bring the spouse star or the Peach Blossom into play. Classical rules:
Missing all three across a decade often correlates with a long single stretch — not because love is impossible, but because the chart isn't pulling for it.
2026 is Bing Wu — Yang Fire stem and Horse branch. The Horse is a Peach Blossom for anyone whose year/day branch is in the metal group (Snake-Rooster-Ox 巳酉丑). If that includes you, 2026 activates romantic magnetism across the full year — expect elevated attention, new introductions, and (for singles) a strong meeting window.

A note on tone. This page describes what the classical texts say. Modern chart-holders sometimes read a difficult spouse-palace configuration or a missing Officer star as fate, and use it to explain away avoidable choices. The chart is a probability distribution, not a script.
Charts with hard spouse-palace configurations still marry well — usually after conscious work on the pattern. Charts with textbook clean configurations still divorce. What the chart gives you is a well-calibrated prior. What you do with it is separate.
