Search for "free BaZi report" and you'll find dozens of promises. Most deliver a chart printout and call it a day. Some deliver a full narrative — until you hit "unlock full report for $19." Some deliver the report but sell your email. Here's what a complete BaZi report actually contains, what usually gets paywalled, and how to tell whether the free report you're about to run is real or a hook.
A real BaZi report has seven parts. Not five, not three — seven. Anything shorter is skipping something.
A report missing any of layers 4–7 is not a complete BaZi report. It's a chart printout with commentary. That's fine for some purposes, but not what "report" usually implies.
Three common shapes:
| Type | What's included | What's paywalled |
|---|---|---|
| Chart-only | Layers 1–3 (chart, Day Master, elements) | Everything interpretive |
| Freemium | Layers 1–4 (adds strength assessment) | Useful God, Ten Gods, personalized narrative |
| Full free | All 7 layers | Nothing (rare — usually monetized via app funnel or ads) |
Most "free BaZi reports" are chart-only or freemium. Full-free is rare because the interpretive layers cost real compute (an AI model, or a practitioner's time) to generate.
Full transparency about the seven layers, so you know what you're getting before running it:
Layers 1–5 render instantly on the calculator page. Layers 6–7 require the AI-generated reading, which needs a one-time email verification (a 6-digit code, no account, no signup). We do this to prevent abuse — DeepSeek AI has real costs and free tools without abuse prevention die fast. See Free BaZi Calculator: What "Free" Actually Includes for the full transparency breakdown.
All 7 layers included. Layers 1–5 instant, no signup. Layers 6–7 via one-time email verification (no account, no marketing).

Ours generates roughly 2000–2500 words per AI reading. Enough for the standard natal + current-decade coverage without becoming an unread wall of text.
Being honest about where paid reports genuinely add value:
| Feature | Free (ours) | Paid ($20–100) | Practitioner ($200+) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chart accuracy | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Day Master + strength + Useful God | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Personalized narrative | ✓ (AI-generated) | ✓ (curated templates) | ✓ (human synthesis) |
| Current decade + year interpretation | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Special formats (從格 / 化格) | Standard rules only | Sometimes flagged | Handled explicitly |
| Q&A on specific decisions | — | Limited | Full session |
| Multi-chart family / team analysis | Pairwise only | Sometimes | Full |
| Follow-up updates | Re-run anytime | One-off | Ongoing |
The right stack for most people: use a good free tool (like ours) for the standard report every 6–12 months, and hire a practitioner once for major life decisions (marriage, big career pivot, cross-country move).
Your Day Master (who you are, at the element level), your chart's elemental balance (what you're rich or poor in), your strength (which advice applies), your Useful God (what you need for balance), your current 10-year cycle theme, and how the current year interacts with your chart. Plus what all of this means for career, relationships, health, and timing.
For the mainstream analytical layers (chart, Day Master, elements, strength, Useful God, Luck Pillars) — yes, if the underlying calculator is well-built. Accuracy depends on the math (solar terms, solar time, day pillar reference), not the price. For special-case chart types and specific life-decision guidance, a practitioner adds real value that free tools can't match.
Depends on the tool. Reports that name your specific Day Master + strength + Useful God, and derive advice from those, are personalized. Reports that give the same advice regardless of chart are just horoscope-style copy-paste. Sanity check: swap in a friend's birthday and see if the advice changes.
Three reasons. (1) Delivery — the report is emailed to you as a PDF or link. (2) Abuse prevention — AI-generated reports are expensive to produce, and email verification keeps automated abuse from bleeding out the free tier. (3) List building — some tools sell the resulting email list. Read the privacy policy before entering.
The full chart, Day Master, elemental balance, strength, Useful God, Ten Gods labels, current Luck Pillar, and current-year interpretation. Anything less is a chart printout, not a report.
Yes. Most modern BaZi tools support English, including ours. The Chinese vocabulary (Jia, Yi, Bing, Ding, etc.) is preserved in pinyin so you can look up references, but the interpretation is written in English.
All 7 layers included (many free reports skip layers 4–7). No account, no signup, no paywall gate — only a one-time email verification to unlock the AI narrative, which is used only for delivery and abuse prevention. The chart itself (layers 1–5) doesn't even require an email. Fully readable in English or Chinese.
