Ask it to compute your Four Pillars from your birthday and it will hand you a confident, wrong chart and read someone else's life to you. Here's the prompt that works, and the non-negotiable step that goes before it.
This is the step everyone skips, and it's the one that decides whether the reading means anything. A language model cannot reliably turn "born 3 March 1990, 2:20pm in Shanghai" into the correct stems and branches. Rules: explain in plain English, show the reasoning behind each
conclusion, and flag anything the chart is genuinely ambiguous about.
Do not flatter me and do not give generic horoscope statements.The instructions do real work. "Do not recalculate" stops the model overriding your correct pillars with its guess. "Cite the chart for each claim" forces grounded reasoning instead of fortune-cookie lines. "Do not flatter" kills the default sycophancy that makes every reading sound the same.

No — not reliably. Building the Four Pillars is deterministic calendar arithmetic (solar terms, true solar time, an unbroken 60-day cycle) that language models get wrong, especially the Day Pillar. Always compute the chart with a real engine first, then paste it into ChatGPT for interpretation.
Two common causes: you let it calculate the chart (so it's reading the wrong pillars), or you didn't instruct it against flattery (so it defaults to vague positivity). Fix both — paste a pre-computed chart and tell it to cite the chart and not flatter.
